“Hi, my name is Adam Bain. I originally come from Newport Beach, California. I'm working with Rafa at ITUSA for the summer here in Spain — beautiful Barcelona. I'm about a 12 UTR and I'm looking to get to a thirteen. We're working a lot on his game, using the clay court to really use the legs and get very tough mentally and physically so he can start beating the big boys. We're ready for the challenge.”

David Bain
Father of Adam Bain — ITUSA Student since age 8
My son, Adam, had his first training session with Rafa at 8 years old. It was a game changer. Adam continued developing under Rafa throughout his junior career, reaching a top 10 national ranking and #1 California ranking, according to tennisrecruiting.net. By Adam's junior year of high school, he was presented with multiple scholarship offers from top athletic and academic universities. Adam accepted an invitation to study and compete in the Ivy League.
Without doubt, Rafa's knowledge, dedication, professionalism, inspiration and true friendship — combined with Adam's strong work effort under his tutelage — drove results and success.
From our very first training, Rafa quickly identified critical areas of improvement and created a customized, organized, short-term and long-term plan across all key areas: technical, movement, mental, strategic, etc. Rafa continuously modified and added driving elements and goals as we continued to work closely with him over my son's most formative years. Rafa personally tailored his unique, effective drills and mental mindset for each improvement area. He also helped foment lifelong values for my son, including hard work, honesty and humbleness.
Due to Rafa's multi-year professionalism, passion and attention to detail, Adam had every advantage to reach his tennis goals and developed into a strong, disciplined, and caring person.
As a former UCLA tennis scholarship recipient, I am continually "blown away" by Rafa's best-in-class coaching. However, it is his dedication, professionalism, passion, and compassion that cements a lifelong friendship and bond with our family.
It is an honor to write this testimony on Rafa's behalf.
